neomycin

neomycin
n.
an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat infections caused by a wide range of bacteria, mainly those affecting the skin, ears, and eyes. Too toxic to be injected, it is usually applied in creams, ointments, or drops with other antibiotics, but can be given by mouth to sterilize the bowel before surgery.
